✨FAMOUS DESTINATIONS OF GUJARAT ✨
I had visited Gujarat in December 2022 and here are some of the famous destinations that we went to
1. RANI KI VAV:
Rani ki vav in Patan or the Queen's step well is a must visit place in Ahemdabad. Rani ki vav was built in the latter half of the 11th century by Queen Udayamati in the memory of her husband King Bhimdev I of the Solanki Dynasty. This place is also a brilliant example of India's architectural genius.
Rani ki vav is divided into seven levels of stairs and is designed like an inverted temple , kind of highlighting the sanctity of waters in this area. The central theme of sculptures here is the Dasavataras or the ten incarnations of Vishnu.
SOME INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT RANI KI VAV:
• Rani ki Vav is featured on the new 100 rupee note of India.
• Rani ki Vav in Patan is the only step well to be declared a UNESCO World heritage site.
• It was built as a memorial for a king by the queen instead of the other way round , which was a more common practice at that time.
Rani ki Vav is located in Patan at a distance of 125 km from Ahemdabad. This heritage site is open everyday between 8am - 6 pm. It can be easily done as a day trip from Ahmedabad.
You can buy your tickets from the ticket office at the entrance. Toilets are available. However the lawns outside the step wells are well maintained and clean. Dustbins are available for you to throw your trash in .
2. STATUE OF UNITY.
Well, it was such a magnificent experience to visit the statue of unity. I still cannot forget the first time i had seen the statue of unity. It is the tallest statue in the world with 182 meters in height.
It is a statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who had played a significant role in India's independence. This statue is a symbol of unity and resembles the country which is a strong example of unity in diversity. A country that has people belonging from different religions, different cultures but still everyone stays in unity and harmony.
Well you have to take a note of that the statue of unity is closed on Monday . The ticket prices also do vary. They have different types of tickets like viewing gallery ticket and also express ticket where u get to skip the queue and visit the statue of unity. I would suggest you to take the viewing gallery tickets.
There are five zones in the statue of unity.
ZONE ONE: From the ground floor to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's feet. This has a memorial garden and a museum.
ZONE TWO: From his feet to his thighs. This is ay a height of 149 m.
ZONE THREE: it includes viewing gallery at 153 m. This extends from his thighs to his chest.
ZONE FOUR: it is at a height of 200 m and can be identified as the area from his chest to his shoulders. This is the maintanence area.
ZONE FIVE is the rest of the statue that is his head and shoulders.
It was a really an unforgettable experience to visit the STATUE OF UNITY.
