Image
πŸŒ€ HARVALEM WATERFALL πŸŒ€ Goa had a huge mining operations for several decades where the water used for the mines were diverted from nearby streams and the excess was channeled back. The Locals believe that once the mining had been disrupted, the cycle has been broken. It is the second most famous waterfall in Goa.  The falls are located in Sanquelim, North Goa. It has been reviewed as one of the world’s most notable and blissful waterfalls there ever is. You can find a great view of the precise nature of the falls. The heavy rain indeed makes it more beautiful to have a look at. Harvalem Waterfall is, without a doubt, a beautiful place to visit if you’re up to see nature’s most gorgeous beauty.  Beautiful river...

EXPOSING THE DARK SIDE OF GOA  When we think of Goa, we visualise beaches, water sports, booze, and its free vacation vibes. Even for those people who have had an offbeat Goan experience, it is about waterfalls, jungles, bird-watching and architecture.   Hindu culture which is manifested through the spring festival of Shigmo. Shigmo is celebrated around the full moon night of the Hindu calendar month of Phalgun in the Konkan region. What is fascinating about Shigmo is that it is considered to be the ideal occasion to express gratitude to the ghosts and spirits. The Gadyachi Jatra is a part of the festivity during Shigmo devoted to Devanchaar or the demon. The inhabitants of Sal, Borde-Bicholim, Pilgao, Kudne, Savai-Verem villages in Goa, worship the demon as the protecting deity of their villages. Though a demon, Devanchaar does not have negative or evil connotation amongst the locals. The most popular Gadyachi Jatra is performed ...

πŸŒΈ  MHALASA NARAYANI TEMPLE 🌸 LOCATION: VERNA, GOA πŸ“ Mhalasa Narayani temple is one of the primary temples in Goa. I have visited this temple in Verna many times. Located at the foothill it is probably one of the biggest temples in Goa.                  The temple was originally located in Varunapuram now known as Verna.  Mhalasa is a kuldevi of many Saraswat Brahmin families and few other communities.  The architecture of this new temple is very unique. The main temple has huge mandapa with a rectangular curvilinear dome. The polished granite floor reflects the hollow dome,  so well that when you walk on it , it almost feels like you are hanging in the air.                  The Murti of Devi is in black stone, and I was told it has been carved locally in Goa. Devi has four arms holding a Trident or Trishul, a Sword, an Asura head, and...

Rani ki vav was built in the latter half of the 11th century by Queen Udayamati in the memory of her husband King Bhimdev I of the Solanki Dynasty. This place is also a brilliant example of India's architectural genius. Rani ki vav is divided into seven levels of stairs and is designed like an inverted temple , kind of highlighting the sanctity of waters in this area. The central theme of sculptures here is the Dasavataras or the ten incarnations of  Vishnu.      SOME INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT RANI KI VAV : • Rani ki Vav is featured on the new 100 rupee note of India.  • Rani ki Vav in Patan is the only step well to be declared a UNESCO World heritage site.  • It was bui...
